In May 2014, Motorola announced Moto E, a smart phone which promised to deliver a pure stock and a clutter free Android experience at a price of Rs. 5999. After gaining a positive response in the market for nearly ten months, the company unveiled the next generation Moto E, which was claimed to be a bigger and a better smarat phone.

In terms of looks both the generations of Moto E are similar. But since there was a face lift that was required in the new model, Motorola made the screen a little bigger, added a front camera, removed the bottom speaker grill that was found on the first generation Moto E and did some cosmetic changes here and there.

Moving forward, Moto E 2014 features a 4.3 inch qHD IPS display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Running on a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, Moto E 2014 come with 1 GB of RAM. Motorola provided only 4 GB of internal memory in the smart phone which could be expanded up to 32 GB via a micro SD card.

Moto E has a 5 MP primary camera but misses out on a LED flash and a secondary camera. The smart phone runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat and Motorola will be rolling out Android Lollipop in the coming few weeks. The smart phone houses a 1980 mAh battery. Other features include WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and Dual SIM.

Moto E 2015 features a 4.5 inch qHD IPS display which is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The smart phone has two variants- 3G and 4G. The 3G variant runs on a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Snapdragon 200 processor and the 4G variant runs on a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Snapdragon 410 64-bit processor. Both come with 1 GB of RAM.  Motorola has provided 8 GB of internal memory in the smart phone.

Moto E 2015 has a 5 MP primary camera and a secondary VGA camera. This model, much like its predecessor misses out on LED flash. It will run on Android Lollipop out of the box. The smart phone houses a much larger 2390 mAh battery. Other features include Wifi, Bluetooth, Moto Display, GPS and Dual SIM.

As of now it is unclear as to which variant of Moto E 2015 will make it to India. Nonetheless we believe Moto E 2015 is a significant upgrade over its predecessor and if priced correctly in India, it has the potential to rule the entry level smart phone space.
