At the recent 56th Battery Symposium held in Japan, Huawei showed off it’s next generation of quick charging technology. Huawei showed a video demo of its two new lithium-ion batteries during the conference, one had the capacity of 600 mAh whereas the other was 3000 mAh. These batteries reached almost 50% capacities in just a couple of minutes, 10 times faster than the current batteries.

The 600 mAh lithium-ion battery went from 0 to 68% percent in just two minutes. A battery of this capacity is ideal for wearables and smartwatches. Whereas, the 3000 mAh battery juiced up from 0 to 48% in five minutes, ideal for smartphones. According to Huawei, the 3000 mAh battery would allow for 10 hours of phone call on Huawei phones. Also these batteries have been certified by Huawei’s terminal test department after doing several rounds of testing.

The company said that they “bonded hetero-atoms to the molecule of graphite in anode, which could be a catalyst for the capture and transmission of lithium through carbon bonds”. These hetero-atoms don’t affect the battery life, and, at the same time, increase the charging speeds of these batteries.

Huawei is very much certain that this charging technology will lead to a new revolution in charging devices like mobile phones, electric vehicles, wearables, etc. “Soon, we will all be able to charge our batteries to full power in the time it takes to grab a coffee!”, Huawei stated further. This charging technology is faster than that of the likes of Samsung and Qualcomm. Once Huawei’s technology enters the mainstream use, it’s going to be a lot more convenient for all the smartphone users. Maximum 10 minutes of charging and you have your smartphone fully charged.
