While the release of Android Nougat is just a couple of months away, there are many devices which still haven’t received Android Marshmallow update. While manufacturers are trying to catch up, not all of the models are getting the Marshmallow goodness. However, if you happen to own ASUS ZenFone Zoom (ZX551KL) or ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL), here’s some good news for you. ASUS has started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for both these devices.
The firmware on the ZenFone Zoom has been bumped up to 4.21.40.74 while the firmware on ZenFone Selfie moves up to 21.40.0.1692. Pre-loaded apps have been removed from both these devices with the Marshmallow update.
ASUS ZenFone Zoom change log:
– [BSP]Update OS to Andorid M
– APP2SD won’t be supported in Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). Please move apps to the internal storage before system upgrade.
The apps listed below will no longer be pre-loaded once your device has been upgraded to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).

- Google Play Books
- Google Play Games
- Google Play Newsstand
- Google+
- ZenFlash (Can be downloaded from Google play)
Add new features and new apps:
- Google Calendar
- Google Messenger
- Facebook messenger
– Remove Asus Email, Asus Calendar, Asus Messaging, Asus Browser and Asus Music after Factory Reset. You could use Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Messenger, Chrome and Google Play Music for relevant services.
– Multi-user and SnapView will not be supported. If you wish to continue to use multi-user, please keep using current account.
ASUS ZenFone Selfie change log:
– Update OS to Andorid M
