TRAI proposes heavy fines on Telcos over poor service

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has amended rules by which any service operator could be penalised if it fails to meet the Quality of Service (QoS) of Service Standards for mobile and wired telephone services.

The aim of this amendment is to caution service providers to provide quality service to its customers as the regulator found ‘service providers were repeatedly not meeting quality of service benchmarks for some of the prescribed parameters’ after it kept a watch on the quality of services provided by them.

So if any service provider is found not meeting the norms then TRAI would be able to implement a ‘financial disincentive’ of Rs. 50,000 per parameter on the first occasion. But if the operator is found not meeting the parameters then the penalty would be raised to Rs. 1 lakh for the consecutive default of the operator.

We really hope that with this amendment ruled in users experience lesser call drops and have a great calling experience from their respective service providers.

Also this brings us to a question: Are you satisfied by your current operator?
