The Nokia E7 is here. It was officially announced in India on the 14th March with Shahrukh Khan
being the celebrity product tester and the brand ambassador. The launch included Shahrukh Khan himself, and D. Shivakumar, Vice President & Managing Director of Nokia, India.
D. Sivakumar had the following comments, “The smartphone market in India is witnessing a phenomenal growth. Trends such as 3G, social networking and video will further drive this growth in the coming years. Consumers today, seek a device that allows them to do a lot more – both in their personal and professional lives. Nokia E7 is an all-in-one business smartphone that offers a superior ‘mobile office’ experience coupled with compelling entertainment options. We are confident that with the Nokia E7, we will redefine the consumers’ expectations from the smartphone segment.”

The brand ambassador, Shahrukh Khan said, “As a technoholic, a device has to be high on innovation and functionality to catch my attention. Nokia has always impressed me with novel and user friendly features – I still have my Nokia Communicator from 1996! I have been waiting for the Nokia Communicator in a new avatar so when I heard about the E7, I couldn’t wait to get one. Nokia approached me as a product tester and I was supposed to give feedback to Nokia. I have used the Nokia E7 for over a month. I am totally hooked to it and it has become my constant business companion. Not only does it keep me connected to my business at all times but it helps me stay close to my friends and family wherever I am”

The E7 is being proclaimed as the new and upgraded communicator and it surely packs some high end features to prove its proclamation. The looks remind us of the N8, only with a bigger screen and N97 style tilt-slide QWERTY keyboard. It is run by the latest Symbian version s^3, an 8 megapixel camera with dual led flash, a 680 MHz ARM 11 processor with a graphics processing unit as well, 16GB onboard memory, 4-inch capacitive AMOLED touch screen, a four line QWERTY slide out keyboard, HDMI connectivity, USB 2.0 with on-the-go support, office applications including office PDF reader and writer, and so on. It will be available in different colours just like the N8, Dark Grey, Silver White, Green, Blue, and Orange. Every E7 will also be equipped with locally relevant content from the Ovi Store, meaning country and region specific content. The content will include also 3 business channels in a Web TV format – CNBC TV18, CNBC Awaaz and Bloomberg, plus many more applications available from the Ovi Store.

Nokia has also tied up with Vodafone and is offering the E7 with a 2GB data per month plan for 6 months on 3G and 2G and for both pre-paid and post-paid customers. The launched price for the E7 is Rs.29, 990 and is also available under EMI scheme at 0% interest as Nokia has tied up with Citibank, HDFC Bank, Standard Chartered and ICICI Bank to provide the scheme.
