With all the major telecom service providers planning on rolling out 4G services in India in the coming year, Aircel has selected long time vendor ZTE to deploy their services within the country.
Aircel, one of the telecom service provider in India, has partnered with ZTE to supply and deploy the 4G LTE network in the country. Aircel, which currently has Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) licenses for eight telecom circles, would deploy the 4G services in Chennai and Rest of Tamil Nadu Circle in the first phase.
While the timeframe for the rollout of 4G networks has not been specified, the companies plan on offering data speeds in excess of 65 Mbps in the initial phase. Not just Aircel, but other providers like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have already announced their plans of 4G rollout in 2014.
Speaking about the 4G LTE networks in India, Anupam Vasudev, CMO, Aircel, said, “We believe that data is the growth engine of the future and a cutting-edge technology such as 4G LTE has the ability to empower consumers like never before. The huge demand for Internet-enabled devices such as smartphones and tablets among the largely young population, along with increase in consumption of data on Internet and rising demand for content are some of the factors fuelling the exponential growth in data.”
