Just days after Xiaomi’s VP Hugo Barra reiterated the company’s commitment towards India, the company has now revealed its expansion plans in the country.

According to sources, Xiaomi is planning to setup two manufacturing plants in India this year itself. The company is also already in talks with Foxconn to setup the facilities in the country and expects to get at least one facility started by the end of the year. With the added facility, the company plans on selling 140 million devices in India in 2016 as against last year’s 100 million.

Xiaomi has also revealed that the company plans on launching more devices in India this year. Further, the company is said to have applied with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) to open single brand retail stores in the country. The smartphone market is currently exploding in India and it seems that this is just the beginning.
