We all know that millions of people use the Instagram app on their smartphones to share their precious images. They like to share each and every moment of their life with photos and videos. Instagram keeps all the photos and videos you share publicly available that can be seen by anyone when they visit your account. However, some people are more concerned about their privacy and they don’t want to let anyone jump in their life by keeping the personal information to the public. So, if you want to set Instagram photos private, then read on this short tutorial to do it.

Note: A few things you want to know before you do the things. Keeping the photos and videos to private won’t hide it from your existing followers, and the only way to keep your stuff away from them is to ask them to unfollow you (which certainly won’t matter as they can follow you back easily unless you have kept the followers on request), you have to block them manually. Moreover, the new followers have to request you to view your photos and videos and you have full control over it.

Now let’s see how do we set Instagram photos private? Make sure you update the Instagram app to the latest version.

Step 1: Open Instagram app on your smartphone.

Step 2: Tap on your profile and select the three dots or settings icon on the top-right corner to enter Instagram settings.

Step 3: Swipe to down and find the option that says ‘Private Account’. Tap the slider to turn it on. Now you Instagram profile is private.

If you ever want to make it public, just tap the slider again to turn it off with the steps shown above.
