The expansion is backed by a rapidly growing infrastructure network and a multi-crore investment aimed at improving delivery speed and supply chain efficiency.
Expansion Across Metro and Emerging Cities
Amazon Now is no longer limited to major hubs. While it continues to operate in cities like Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and Bengaluru, the latest rollout brings the service to a wider mix of regions.
New metro coverage includes Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune. At the same time, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities like Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh, and Kochi are now part of the network.
This broader reach highlights Amazon’s push beyond metros into high-growth urban and semi-urban markets.
Faster Deliveries with Curated Essentials
Amazon Now focuses on delivering daily essentials within minutes, targeting convenience-driven users. The catalog includes groceries like fresh fruits and vegetables, personal care products, fashion basics, small appliances, and even baby and pet supplies.
Instead of offering everything, the platform emphasizes a curated selection optimized for quick fulfillment and high demand.
Micro-Fulfillment Centers Power the Network
The backbone of this expansion is Amazon’s growing network of over 1,000 micro-fulfillment centers (MFCs). These compact warehouses are strategically placed near residential areas to reduce delivery time.
Equipped with advanced inventory systems, these centers analyze local demand patterns to stock relevant products. This hyperlocal approach ensures faster order processing and improved availability of frequently purchased items.
Supporting Farmers & Local Supply Chains
A notable aspect of Amazon Now is its integration with agricultural supply chains. The platform enables more than 16,000 farmers to directly supply produce to consumers through sellers.
This not only shortens the supply chain but also helps farmers gain better market access and pricing opportunities, while customers benefit from fresher products.
₹2,800 Crore Investment Driving Growth
The expansion is part of Amazon’s broader investment of over ₹2,800 crore in India. This funding is being used to scale infrastructure, enhance logistics efficiency, and improve working conditions and safety measures for its workforce.
The investment signals Amazon’s long-term commitment to strengthening its presence in India’s competitive quick-commerce ecosystem.
How to Access Amazon Now
Customers can check whether Amazon Now is available in their area through the Amazon app. The service appears as a dedicated “Now” (lightning icon) section on the homepage, making it easy to browse and place quick orders.
