KRAFTON India has renamed its upcoming lightweight battle royale game, previously announced as BGMI LITE, to BGMI Air. The announcement comes as the game crosses 10 million pre-registrations on the Google Play Store, ahead of its planned release in India later this year.
The game is designed to bring the core Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) experience to a wider range of Android devices, particularly entry-level smartphones and devices with limited storage capacity.

BGMI Air: Download Size & Account Details
BGMI Air aims to reduce device requirements while retaining the primary gameplay mechanics of the standard BGMI title. The initial download size is expected to be approximately 1 GB, making it considerably smaller than the regular BGMI client.
The game will also operate as an independent client. You won’t need to transfer your existing BGMI account to BGMI Air, allowing you to access the two games separately without migrating your primary account.
Pre-registrations originally opened for Android devices through the Google Play Store on 25th August 2026.
BGMI Air Open Beta & Release Timeline
KRAFTON India plans to introduce an Open Beta before the general release to evaluate technical stability and collect feedback from players. The company intends to use feedback from the beta to optimize network performance and gameplay across different hardware configurations.
The publisher has not announced a confirmed date for the Open Beta or the final release. BGMI Air is currently scheduled to launch in India later in 2026, with further updates expected through its official communication channels, including its dedicated Instagram page.
With more than 10 million pre-registrations, BGMI Air has attracted considerable early interest. Its smaller download size and focus on entry-level devices could make it an alternative for players who want the BGMI experience without the storage demands of the standard game.
