All the telecom operators in India are busy rivaling Reliance Jio by introducing new tariff plans and revamping existing ones. Amongst all of them, the state-run BSNL is no different. Last week, the telco announced its ‘KOOL’ offer for prepaid customers as a part of which it offered unlimited data and voice calls for 84 days at ₹1099. And now, the telco has announced a new tariff plan called Maximum.
This Maximum plan has been announced by BSNL for its prepaid customers with a validity of 365 days. It is priced at ₹999 and offers unlimited data to the customers for the first 181 days, with the caveat being FUP of 1 GB data per day at high-speeds post which the speed will be throttled down to 40 Kbps.
Apart from this, BSNL is also offering unlimited local and STD voice calling benefits to its customers for the first 181 days from the date of recharge. But, the calls to Mumbai and Delhi will be charged at the rate of 60p/min. That said, customers are also offered 100 free SMS per day during this time period.
However, after the first 181 days, customers will be charged at the rate of 60p/min for local and STD voice calls, and 25 paise for one local SMS and 35 paise for one national SMS. Moreover, this plan is also unavailable in circles of Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and North-East India.

Well, this BSNL plan competes with Jio’s prepaid plan priced at ₹999 which offers a total of 60 GB of 4G data along with 100 free SMS per day and unlimited local and STD voice calls for 90 days. However, post exhaustion of 60 GB of 4G data, Jio customers can continue using Internet without any data limit at a speed of 64 Kbps.
Hence, BSNL’s Maximum plan for prepaid customers priced at ₹999 has an edge against Jio’s ₹999 tariff plan. What do you think?
