Nokia had invited people saying that they have something in store for us. Well the announcement has been made; they have made the X7 and the E6 official. The two phones were making rounds in the rumour department and are now finally in the limelight.

Both the devices have the Symbian platform with new icons, a smoother and faster UI and a new and improved browser. The spec sheet says that the new Symbian OS is called Symbian Anna. This is an updated version of the S^3 platform which is standard in the two devices. This will also be a standard OS in the newly shipped S^3 phones namely the Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7 and Nokia C6-01 devices, as well as available to download on previously purchased models of those same smart phones.

“We are further strengthening Nokia’s smart phone portfolio with these two new devices, both of which offer a more beautiful and intuitive user experience that will soon also be available for the Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7 and Nokia C6-01. With these new products and more Symbian devices and user enhancements coming in the near future, we are confident we can keep existing Nokia smart phone customers engaged, as well as attract new first-time and competitor smart phone users,” said Jo Harlow, head of Nokia’s Smart Devices business.

The E6 is a business smart phone with a full QWERTY keypad and a touch display with a high resolution of 640×480. An 8MP camera with 720p video recording, 8GB memory with additional support of Micro-SD cards of upto 32GB Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, Micro-USB with On-the-Go support, 3.5mm stereo jack, GPS, etc. It will come in three colours, black, silver and white.

The X7 will be an addition to the X-series and surely packs a punch. It has a large 4 inch capacitive touch screen with AMOLED display and Gorilla glass window which has a resolution of 640×360. Comes with an 8GB memory card with support of Micro-SD up to 32GB, 8MP camera with 720p video capabilities, Micro USB, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, and the usual Nokia features.
