After Vodafone and Airtel, Idea announces 90 percent reduction in 2G data charges

After Vodafone slashed their data rates to 2p/10KB and Airtel reduced their data charges to 1p/10KB, Idea immediately followed suit by announcing a 90 percent rate cut for their data services.

Announcing the new data tariffs, Idea Cellular has declared a 90 percent reduction in 2G data rates. The new charges of 2 paise per 10 KB from the existing 2 paise per KB will be applicable from July 1. The new tariffs will be available for both prepaid and post-paid 2G plans for users in the eight circles of – Tamil Nadu & Chennai, Karnataka, Kolkata, West Bengal, Assam, North East, Bihar, and Orissa.

The revised rates can be availed by prepaid Idea users with a nominal value recharge priced between Rs. 5-10 and would be valid for a period of 90 days from the date of activation. The new tariffs are applied for the pay-as-you-go services as well as on overuse on the regular data packs.
