While there were already rumours about at least two versions of the upcoming Samsung flagship, including a premium version, noted analyst has thrown some light on the handset.
According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, there indeed would be two versions of the Samsung Galaxy S5, one of which is called the Prime version and the other the Standard version. While the premium version was touted to have a metallic body, Kuo clearly mentions that both the devices are made of plastic.
The Standard version and the Prime version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 would not be differentiated based on the build materials but instead by the specs. The Standard version is expected to be powered by either a 32 bit quad core Snapdragon 800 processor which is produced using the 28nm process or a 32 bit octa core Samsung Exynos 5422, also manufactured with the 28nm process. However the Prime version would sport a 32 bit octa core Samsung Exynos 5430, prepared using a 20nm process.
While both the Standard version and the Prime version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 would have a 5.2 inch display, the Standard version would have full HD 1080p resolution whereas the Prime version would have 2K resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixel, with density of 565 ppi. Interestingly both the devices are plugged to have a fingerprint sensor.
The remainder of the specs would be common for both the Standard version and the Prime version of the Samsung Galaxy S5, like the 3 GB of RAM, 3D Gesture support. Both the handsets would have the same rear facing 16 MP camera and front facing 2 MP cameras.
