We had heard rumors of a VAIO phone to be coming and well, they were true. The VAIO Phone is here and as the title says, it looks a lot like Panasonic Eluga U2. In fact, the VAIO Phone is a re-branded Eluga U2. It looks the same and the specs are the same as well. The VAIO Phone is the first smartphone from the VAIO Corporation after Sony sold off the division and it’s in partnership with its buyers, Japan communications.

VAIO Phone 1

The VAIO Phone features a glass back and it measures 1.3×141.5×7.95mm while the weight is at 130 grams. The device packs in a 5-inch IPS OGS display of HD (1280x720p) resolution and it’s powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU. The smartphone comes with 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of on-board storage along with microSD expansion.

The handset packs in a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5 MP front-facing camera. Android 5.0 Lollipop runs the show here and a 2500 mAh battery powers the device. The connectivity is well covered with 4G LTE in tow along with WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.

VAIO Phone 2

Sadly, the VAIO phone is priced almost twice of the Eluga U2, making it  not a great option for the buyers. It’s priced at 51,000 yen, which is around US$ 421 (~Rs. 26,326), while the Eluga U2 is priced at around US$ 254 (~Rs. 15,700). The device will hit the Japanese market on March 20 but we have no idea if the VAIO phone will make it to the other parts of the world.

VAIO Phone Specs:

  • HD (1280x720p) resolution
