The Micromax Canvas HD, which has been the most awaited phone since its announcement earlier this year, has set a new record for online sales. The phone has sold off 9000 units online within the first 24 hours of its launch.
As per details available from the online sales partner Snapdeal.com, the Canvas HD was sold out within 15 minutes of announcing the sale on 14 February, midnight. The second lot of 300 units was finished again within 15 minutes. The third lot of 1200 units was then sold out in 45 minutes. Overall more than 9000 units have been booked in the last 24 hours. On an average it means nearly 25 devices are booked every passing minute.
This overwhelming response comes as no surprise considering the success of Canvas 2. Released on Valentine’s Day, the phone created a digital queue in the cyberspace with an increasing demand. Priced at Rs. 13,990, the phone is a first to be sold off in such a short interval of time.
