ASUS FonePad with Intel processor, 3G and voice calling announced

At the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013, alongside the Padfone Infinity, ASUS unveiled the ASUS FonePad which has leaked a couple of times in the past and is the first Intel processor powered Android tablet which also arrive with built-in 3G and voice-calling support.

ASUS-FonePad-OfficialThe ASUS FonePad packs in a 7-inch IPS display with a display resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels while getting all its processing power from a 1.2 GHZ Intel Atom processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM.

ASUS plans to launch the FonePad in two variants, The Europe one will come with 16 GB of built-in storage while carrying a 1.2 MP front-facing camera and will be available in April for about €219. While the APAC region variant of the Fonepad will pack only 8GB of built-in storage but compensates it with a 3MP camera on the rear and will retail for in March for $250.

  • 1.2 Megapixels front facing camera
  • Google Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
  • 4270 mAh battery

The ASUS FonePad is a direct competitor to the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and the tablet will be available in Titanium Gray and Champagne Gold with a smooth metal back.
