Bharti Airtel has announced a major expansion of its 5G network across India’s Upper North region, deploying more than 2,900 new 5G sites over the past 12 months. The rollout is aimed at strengthening network coverage, improving data speeds, and enhancing connectivity across urban centers, emerging towns, and rural communities.

According to the company, the latest expansion now covers 77 districts across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, extending high-speed 5G connectivity to more than 28.6 million customers in the region. Airtel noted that it maintained an average deployment pace of over eight new 5G sites per day during the one-year rollout period.
The network enhancement is designed to support growing demand for high-speed mobile internet services, including HD video streaming, online gaming, remote work, digital learning, cloud applications, and digital payment services. Airtel says the expanded infrastructure will help deliver a more reliable and consistent user experience across both urban and rural markets.
The deployment covers all districts across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring broader access to Airtel’s 5G services for consumers, students, businesses, startups, enterprises, and government institutions.
With the continued rollout, Airtel is further strengthening its next-generation mobile network infrastructure to support increasing data consumption and the growing adoption of 5G-enabled devices across India.
Regarding the 5G expansion, Anupam Arora, CEO – Upper North, Bharti Airtel, said, “Data demand across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir is surging, and we are staying ahead by relentlessly strengthening our network. These 2,900+ new 5G sites mean faster speeds, wider coverage, and a more reliable experience for over 28.6 million customers.
