With connected smart home devices becoming a trend in the western market, Amazon is now gearing up to launch the Amazon Echo in India.
According to reports from FactorDaily, Amazon is gearing up to launch the Amazon Echo smart speaker in India this year. The company is preparing to launch the device along with Alexa, the artificial intelligence powered assistant used in the device. Amazon has apparently already started putting together content and localising the service to suit the Indian market.
While Amazon categorically refused to comment on the launch of the Amazon Echo in India, sources in the know suggest that the launch is expected somewhere towards the second half of 2017, in time for the festival season. However, Amazon has indeed earmarked nearly $5 billion to be invest in the Indian market to promote its services like Amazon Prime.
