Android One devices finally receiving the Lollipop update in India

After much wait and speculation, the Lollipop update for the Android One devices is finally rolling out. The update might have come late for these devices but we’re glad it’s finally here.

The Android One devices in India, the Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V and the Spice Dream UNO Mi-498 will now be receiving the major Android update. Google has been launching the Android One devices in Indonesia with Android 5.1, so we might be seeing the Android One devices in India get the 5.1 update.

The news has been confirmed by Google’s VP of Android division, Caesar Sengupta, who confirmed on his Google+ page that the update is now rolling out to Android One devices. He also revealed that the update will be a gradual process, so it might take some time to reach all the devices.

The Android 5.0  Lollipop update is a major overhaul of the OS, as it brings the brand new Material Design UI makeover, better notification center, new lock screen, user accounts and a lot more. The Android 5.1 update, as the number suggests is a minor update, which brings some refinement to the interface and other improvements.
