Finally putting an end to all rumors, Apple has officially announced the new iPhone and its not just one but two – the Apple iPhone 6 and the Apple iPhone 6 Plus.
Apple has officially announced the new line-up for this year and it include two new iPhones as expected – the 4.7 inch Apple iPhone 6 and the 5.5 inch Apple iPhone 6 Plus. The devices have a shatter proof sapphire crystal glass with oleophobic coating for water resistance. The handsets have a LED-backlit IPS LCD with resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels and 1920 x 1080 pixels respectively.
The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus comes with a refreshingly new design with a full metal finish on the back panel and a metallic stripe running at the sides. The edges are surprisingly curved with a smooth rounded finish. To work with the enlarged size, the power button is relocated to the right top edge.
The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus are both powered by the new 64 bit Apple A8 chip, which is said to offer 25 percent faster CPU and 50 percent faster graphics. There would also be a M8 motion coprocessor, which is designed for fitness apps.
The Apple iPhone 6 has the same 8 MP rear facing camera but with a slightly wider f/2.0 aperture, dual LED true tone flash and the next generation iSight sensor which has the focus pixels. The handsets run on the latest iOS 8. However, the iPhone 6 Plus has a completely modified UI with lots of cues from the iPad UI.
The 16 GB version of the iPhone 6 will cost $199 on a 2-year contract, while the 64 GB and 128 GB versions will go for $299 and $399, respectively. The iPhone 6 Plus on the other hand will start at $299. All the devices are expected to go up for pre-order on September 12 and are scheduled to start shipping on September 19.
