Apple iPad Mini officially unveiled – 7.9-inch, 5 MP iSight camera, starts at $ 329

And it is official! Apple has today announced the launch of the smaller version of the iPad called the ‘iPad Mini’.


The iPad Mini arrives with the same 7.9 inch screen which we have heard about and there is really nothing new which we have not seen in the zillion leaks which have now proved to be bang on target.

Going by the specifications, the Apple iPad Mini packs in the following:
  • 7.9 inch screen
  • Display resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels
  • A5 chip
  • FaceTime HD Camera
  • 5 MP rear facing iSight camera
  • 4400 mAh battery
  • 10 hours of battery life
  • Measures 200 x 134.7 x 7.2 mm
  • Weighs 308.4 grams
  • Is just 7.2mm thick
  • Wi-Fi, LTE
  • Lightning connector

The iPad Mini will be available in Black and White colour options and Apple has priced the Mini’s Wi-Fi only version at $329 (16GB), $429 (32GB), $529 (64GB) while the Wi-Fi + LTE models would be available for $459, $559, $659.

The iPad mini arrives with the newly launched Lightning connector accessories are available to support cameras, SD cards and VGA or HDMI digital video.

With the launch, Apple has also launched Smart Covers which are custom-designed for iPad mini and will be available in Pink, Green, Blue, Light Gray, Dark Gray and Red for $39.

Interested buyers can pre-order the iPad Mini starting on October 26 through the Apple Online Store in the US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK and the Wi-Fi versions will be shipping from November 2nd.
