While the very important Bluetooth 4.0 LE support is expected to be loaded with the new Windows Phone 8.1 update, Nokia is expediting the process for its smartphones by adding the support directly.

Nokia-Lumia-1520-official

Nokia has officially added Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy support to the Nokia Lumia 520, 620, 625 and 720 with the new Windows Amber update. Now the company is adding the functionality to the remaining Nokia Windows Phone 8 devices with a special Black update. However the release date of the Black update hasn’t been announced as of now.

The company mentioned about the Black update as follows, “Bluetooth LE allows you to connect your phone with special accessories like heart rate monitors. While doing that, thanks to Bluetooth LE connection, the accessory battery will last much longer, up to months. It is already available for 520, 620, 625, and 720 with Amber. With Lumia Black software update, Bluetooth LE will be enabled across the full WP8 Lumia range.”
