Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds announced, marking the company’s return to wired earbuds. The new model uses a direct USB-C wired connection and combines Bose’s QuietControl noise cancellation technology with lossless audio support, low-latency playback and an in-line physical remote.
The earbuds connect directly to compatible USB-C smartphones, tablets and computers, without requiring Bluetooth pairing or a companion app. They draw power from the connected device, so there is no internal battery to recharge.
USB-C Connection and 24-bit/48 kHz Audio
The Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds use USB Audio Class 2 (UAC2) and can accept source input at different sample and bit rates, while playback output is fixed at 24-bit/48 kHz.
Bose’s proprietary SoundDesign digital signal processing technology is designed to deliver lossless audio listening over the wired connection. The direct USB-C connection also provides low-latency audio, which can help keep sound synchronized during video playback, gaming and content creation.
QuietControl ANC With Four Microphones
For noise cancellation, Bose uses its QuietControl technology with four microphones, with two microphones positioned on each earbud. The system continuously monitors surrounding sound and adjusts the noise cancellation accordingly.
The earbuds offer three listening modes:
- Quiet Mode: Reduces outside distractions with active noise cancellation
- Aware Mode: Allows surrounding sounds to pass through
- ANC Off Mode: Provides wired listening without active noise cancellation
The modes can be switched using the physical controls on the in-line remote.
In-Line Remote | Microphone
The cable features an in-line remote with tactile physical buttons for volume, playback, calls and switching between the three noise cancellation modes.
A dedicated microphone on the back of the remote is used for voice pickup. Bose says its positioning helps minimize unwanted noise caused by the cable or remote rubbing against clothing, allowing users to speak without bringing the remote close to their mouth.
Customizable Fit | IPX4 Rating
The earbuds come with a 4.2-foot cable and include silicone eartips in small, medium and large sizes. Medium and large stability wings are also included, allowing users to mix and match the components to find a suitable fit.
The earbuds can also be used without the stability wings. Bose has given them an IPX4 water-resistance rating for everyday protection against splashes and sweat. A zippered carry case is included for storage. The earbuds are available in Black, White Smoke, and Limited-Edition Dewdrop Mint.
