Google has brought a new update for Chrome users on Android and iOS which brings data compression on the browser in both the platforms and there are some specific upgrades for iOS as well as Android.
Google had been testing data compression on Chrome for a while now and its only now that they have brought the feature to the all the Android and iOS users. Now you can turn on the data compressor on Chrome by going into “Settings” > “Bandwidth management” > “Reduce data usage” and surf without worrying about the bandwidth and your data plan. The good thing is you will also be able to check how much bandwidth you are saving from this feature. Google claims that the data compression feature will reduce up to 50 % of your bandwidth.
There’s a iOS specific upgrade, Google Translate is now built into Chrome for iOS and you can translate a web page into your language by just the click of a button. The feature is already available on the Android version.
On Android, the update brings the ability to create shortcuts right on your homescreen for your most visited web pages.
