CMF by Nothing has officially confirmed that the CMF Phone 3 Pro will not launch in 2026. The announcement comes months after rumors suggested the smartphone was in development and expected to debut during the third quarter of 2026.
The confirmation was made by Nothing Co-founder Akis Evangelidis, who revealed that the company has decided to halt development of the device due to unfavorable market conditions, particularly the sharp increase in memory component prices across the technology industry.
According to Evangelidis, CMF did explore a successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro, but the rising costs of DRAM and storage components made it difficult to deliver a meaningful hardware upgrade while maintaining the aggressive pricing strategy that CMF is known for.
“We were working on a successor, but with memory prices where they are right now, we can’t build a phone that feels like a genuine step forward at a price that makes sense for CMF. We’d rather be upfront about that than ship something we’re not proud of.”
CMF Skips Annual Upgrade Cycle
The decision represents a notable departure from the annual smartphone refresh cycle followed by most brands. Rather than launching an incremental upgrade with minimal improvements, CMF has chosen to postpone the next-generation device until it can deliver a more substantial upgrade that aligns with its value-focused philosophy.
The move also comes amid growing concerns across the consumer electronics industry regarding rising memory and storage prices, driven largely by increasing demand from AI infrastructure and data center deployments.
New CMF Products Still Planned
While there won’t be a new CMF smartphone this year, the company confirmed that its product roadmap remains active.
CMF plans to introduce several new ecosystem products in 2026, including devices in entirely new categories. However, the company has not yet revealed specific details about these upcoming launches.
Nothing also clarified that the broader launch schedule for its main smartphone brand remains unchanged, with additional Nothing-branded products expected to arrive in the coming months.
CMF Phone 3 Pro Launch Timeline Unclear
At present, CMF has not provided a revised launch timeline for the next CMF smartphone. The company says it will share more details when market conditions allow it to deliver a device that offers meaningful improvements without compromising affordability.
For now, the CMF Phone 2 Pro will continue as the brand’s latest smartphone offering while CMF focuses on expanding its ecosystem portfolio.
