Gemini app becomes more agentic with Spark AI, voice upgrades and Omni model

The update brings features like Gemini Omni, Gemini Spark, Daily Brief, and improved voice interactions as Google pushes Gemini toward becoming a proactive AI assistant that works continuously across devices and apps.

Neural Expressive Redesign

Google has redesigned the Gemini app with a new visual language called Neural Expressive.

The refreshed experience introduces:

• Fluid animations
• New typography
• Vibrant colors
• Haptic feedback
• Rich dynamic responses

Instead of plain text answers, Gemini can now generate:

• Interactive timelines
• Dynamic graphics
• Narrated videos
• Rich visual cards

Gemini Live is now integrated directly into the main app, allowing users to switch seamlessly between typing and voice conversations. Google also says the microphone system has been improved so users are less likely to be interrupted mid-sentence.

Regional dialect support for voice conversations is also coming soon. Neural Expressive is rolling out globally today on Android, iOS, and Web.

Gemini Omni for AI-Powered Creation

Google also introduced Gemini Omni, a new AI model family focused on creative generation.

The first model, Gemini Omni Flash, can generate high-quality videos using:

• Text prompts
• Images
• Video inputs

Users can:

• Add cinematic zoom effects
• Replace backgrounds
• Apply templates
• Edit videos conversationally using prompts

Google demonstrated examples like:

• Turning mirrors into liquid ripple effects
• Transforming sculptures into bubble animations

Gemini Omni is rolling out globally today for:

• Google AI Plus
• Google AI Pro
• Google AI Ultra subscribers

Gemini Spark: 24/7 AI Agent

One of the biggest announcements is Gemini Spark, Google’s new cloud-based personal AI agent powered by Gemini 3.5 and the Antigravity system.

Spark continues working even when:

• The phone is locked
• The laptop is closed

It integrates with:

• Gmail
• Docs
• Slides
• Workspace apps

Google says Spark can:

• Monitor subscriptions from bank statements
• Summarize school emails
• Generate documents from meeting notes
• Draft follow-up emails automatically

The system also supports MCP integrations with services like:

• Canva
• OpenTable
• Instacart

Google says Spark always asks before performing sensitive actions like:

• Sending emails
• Making purchases

Additional features coming later include:

• Emailing or texting Spark directly
• Custom sub-agents
• Browser automation

Gemini Spark begins rolling out to trusted testers this week, with a beta release for US Google AI Ultra subscribers next week.

Daily Brief Morning Assistant

Google also introduced Daily Brief, a personalized AI-generated morning summary.

The feature pulls information from connected apps like Gmail and Google Calendar, and creates a daily briefing with important emails, upcoming events, and suggested follow-ups. Users can personalize the experience over time using feedback controls. Daily Brief is available today for Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra users in the US

Gemini macOS App Upgrades

Google confirmed upcoming upgrades for the Gemini macOS app.

New features coming later this summer include:

• Gemini Spark integration
• Local file workflow assistance
• Improved desktop automation
• AI voice drafting based on screen context

The voice system can convert natural speech and unfinished thoughts into properly formatted drafts directly at the cursor position.
