Add MobiGyaan as a preferred source on GoogleGoogle has announced an expansion of its Android Earthquake Alerts System from 98 countries and regions to more than 200. The rollout includes newly supported locations such as Panama and Guatemala, along with other regions.
Since its launch in 2021, the system has delivered more than one billion alerts through its mobile-based earthquake detection network, providing early warnings before shaking begins.

Android Earthquake Alerts: Three Alert Types
Android users in regions where the system is active can receive one of three alerts based on the estimated shaking intensity.
- Be Aware: Notifies users when an earthquake has been detected nearby and light shaking is estimated.
- Be Ready: Provides more detailed information when stronger shaking is expected and advises users to prepare to take action.
- Take Action: Displays a full-screen alert for estimated moderate to heavy shaking, along with immediate safety guidance.
Google Adds More Information to Be Ready Alerts
Google is also updating the Be Ready alert with additional earthquake information. The new details are expected to include a map showing the radius where shaking has been detected, the estimated earthquake magnitude, recommended actions, and a button to learn more about the earthquake as further information becomes available.
The changes are intended to provide more context about an earthquake and help recipients understand the estimated affected area and recommended safety measures.

Availability
Google says the expanded Android Earthquake Alerts System will begin rolling out to users in newly supported regions on 16th October 2026. The rollout is expected to be completed over the following week.
The availability of alerts depends on whether the system is active in a user’s region.
