Those who have been using Internet must be well aware of Google. Rather, Google has become a synonym to the Internet. It all started with a search engine, and now fast forward to today, Google has expanded itself into many sectors. Be it an operating system or delivering Internet connectivity through a network of balloons. Whoever uses Internet has heard the name of Google at least once, if not more.

Apart from Google’s Android, there are many who swear by Google’s Internet browser named Chrome. Apart from desktop computers, Google Chrome also made its way into the mobile phones after the advent of smartphones. You must have noticed that Google Chrome comes pre-installed with all the Android smartphones that you buy.

The default search engine in Google Chrome is, well of course, Google. Most of the Internet users use Google as the search engine whenever they want to find something on the Internet. But again, there are some who don’t like to use Google and may want to use a different search engine. If you are the one who doesn’t like going to that specific search engine every time you search something, we show you how to change the default search engine in Google Chrome for Android.

How to change default search engine in Google Chrome

Step 1: Open Google Chrome and tap on the ‘three dot menu‘ icon located at the top right of the screen. After that, tap on ‘Settings‘.

Step 2: Tap on ‘Search engine‘ in the ‘Basics’ sub-category of the ‘Settings’ menu. The default search engine in Google Chrome will be Google.

Apart from Google, there will be four other options – Yahoo!, Bing, Ask, AOL. Select the search engine you want to set as the default search engine in Google Chrome. I chose Yahoo! as the default search engine. Select the search engine you prefer and tap on ‘Close’.

Now whenever you type something in the search bar of Google Chrome, the search will be performed by the search engine that you chose as the default one. In our case, Yahoo! will perform the search.

We hope you were able to change the default search engine in Google Chrome for Android. If you use Mozilla’s Firefox instead of Chrome, you might like to check ‘How to change default search engine in Firefox‘.
