With budget tablets gaining a sizeable quota in the market, HP has announced four new tablets in its HP Slate range with varying screen sizes.
The HP Slate series got four new additions with the HP Slate 7 Plus, HP Slate 7 Extreme, HP Slate 8 Pro and the HP Slate 10 HD. All the four tablets run on Android Jelly Bean. The HP Slate 7 Plus and the HP Slate 7 Extreme have a 7 inch display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution. The HP Slate 8 Pro has an 8 inch display with a higher resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. The biggest of them all, the HP Slate 10 HD has a 10 inch display but with just 1280 x 800 pixels resolution.
The HP Slate 7 Extreme and the HP Slate 8 Pro are powered by the quad core Tegra 4 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. The HP Slate 7 Plus uses an older 1.3 GHz quad core Tegra 3 processor while the HP Slate 10 HD uses the 1.2 GHz dual core Marvell PXA9968 processor. All the tablets have 1 GB of RAM with 16 GB of internal storage on board, except the HP Slate 7 Plus which has an 8 GB storage.
All the tablets expect the HP Slate 8 Pro have a 5 MP rear facing camera, with the latter having a larger 8 MP camera. Similarly they all also have a front facing VGA camera except for the HP Slate 10 HD which has a 2 MP camera. All the devices are packed with large batteries, with the HP Slate 10 HD having a 7000 mAh battery.
Owing to the processor used, HP has managed to keep the pricing of the tablets very low. The HP Slate 7 Plus is priced at $149.99 and the HP Slate 7 Extreme at $199.99. The most expensive would however be the HP Slate 8 Pro at $329.99 as the HP Slate 10 HD is priced at $299.99
