Idea rolls out GSM service in Orissa

Expanding its national footprint, IDEA Cellular has now entered Orissa, with the launch of its GSM mobile services in the state.. IDEA’s 2.75G EDGE enabled network will cover over 360 towns and villages in Orissa by next month, and will rapidly expand to cover 2,200 towns and villages by March 2010.

With the launch of IDEA in Orissa, mobile users in the state will now have a richer experience while watching movie previews on IDEA TV, Voice chats, Instant Messenger, multimedia messages with video attachments, web-infotainment, high-speed video downloads, Java game downloads and other Internet-based multi-media experiences on their EDGE-enabled mobile phones. A special feature being made available for IDEA subscribers in the state is ‘Oriya Manoranjan’ – an exclusive regional portal highlighting aspects of Orissa through its culture, music, festivals, movies, religion and much more.
