Reliance Jio has introduced JioShield, a new family safety and digital wellbeing solution designed to help parents stay connected with their children while also providing safety and monitoring features. The service combines physical safety tools such as location tracking and SOS alerts with digital controls for screen time, apps and contacts.
JioShield is available as a one-year subscription for ₹1,000, equivalent to around ₹83 per month. As part of Jio’s 10th anniversary offer, eligible customers also receive a ₹1,000 Jio recharge voucher, making the subscription effectively free, along with 12 months of Canva Pro worth ₹4,000 and an unlimited 5G upgrade for 28 days.
JioShield Brings Location & Safety Alerts
The service allows parents to track a child’s location and receive safety alerts, while its SOS feature can notify parents when their child needs help. Jio’s current JioShield page also lists near real-time location updates, location history and geo-fencing features that can alert parents when a child enters or leaves defined areas.
JioShield also includes low-battery alerts, allowing parents to know when the child’s phone battery is running low. The service is designed to work across two connected applications, with the parent using the JioThings app and the child using the JioShield app on their phone.
Screen Time, App & Contact Controls
For digital safety, parents can use JioShield to manage and monitor screen time, control which apps can be accessed and manage contacts available on the child’s device. Jio says these controls are intended to provide greater visibility over a child’s digital activity.
Jio’s current product page further lists app management, daily screen-time limits and contact whitelisting among the available controls.
How JioShield Works
JioShield uses a pair of connected apps. Parents use the JioThings app, while the JioShield app is installed on the child’s phone. Once the two devices are linked, parents can manage screen time, apps and contacts, track location and receive safety alerts.
The child’s phone must be an Android smartphone running Android 10 or above with an active Jio mobile number. The parent’s phone uses JioThings, which was initially available on Android, with iOS availability scheduled from 1st October 2026. Both parent and child need to register with a Jio number to enroll.
JioShield Price & Anniversary Offer
JioShield is available for ₹1,000 for one year. Eligible customers can access the service along with the anniversary benefits, including the ₹1,000 Jio recharge voucher, 12 months of Canva Pro and unlimited 5G for 28 days.
The JioShield ₹1,000 Anniversary Offer is available to eligible customers from 26th September 2026.
