LG Electronics has outlined its long-term vision for the emerging era of Physical AI, highlighting how the company plans to bring intelligent robotics beyond factories and commercial environments into everyday homes. Central to this strategy is the LG CLOiD™ home robot, first unveiled at CES 2026, which is designed to work seamlessly with LG’s ThinQ™ connected appliance ecosystem.

The company says its robotics roadmap is built on decades of expertise across home appliances, robotics, AI, connected devices, and industrial automation, enabling it to create intelligent systems capable of understanding and acting within real-world environments.

LG Physical AI CLOiD Robot, ThinQ Smart Living

Four Pillars of LG’s Physical AI Strategy

According to LG, its Physical AI vision is supported by four interconnected foundations:

  • Decades of consumer insights gathered through millions of connected home appliances worldwide
  • More than 20 years of robotics development across residential, commercial, logistics, and industrial environments
  • Core robotics technologies including actuators, motors, and precision motion systems
  • A group-wide Physical AI ecosystem connecting AI, robotics, sensing technologies, software, and connected appliances

The company believes these elements provide the technological framework needed to bridge AI intelligence with physical action in real-world environments.

LG CLOiD and the Zero Labor Home Vision

LG’s Physical AI ambitions are closely tied to what it calls the “Zero Labor Home” concept.

The vision centers around intelligent robots, connected appliances, and AI-powered orchestration systems working together to proactively manage household tasks with minimal user intervention. Within this ecosystem, the LG CLOiD robot acts as a physical interface between AI services and the home environment.

Working alongside ThinQ-connected appliances, CLOiD is designed to assist with daily activities while understanding household routines and responding to user needs more naturally.

LG says the long-term goal is to create homes that can anticipate requirements, automate repetitive tasks, and free up more time for users and their families.

Built on Decades of Home Appliance Intelligence

LG notes that its extensive presence in the home appliance industry provides a unique advantage when developing consumer-focused AI robots.

Through millions of connected appliances operating worldwide, the company has accumulated insights into:

  • Household routines
  • Consumer behavior patterns
  • Appliance usage trends
  • Smart home interactions

Combined with data from its expanding ThinQ ecosystem, LG believes this foundation will enable more personalized and context-aware robotic experiences.

Over 20 Years of Robotics Experience

LG’s robotics journey dates back to 2003 with the introduction of its first robotic cleaning solution.

Since then, the company has expanded its robotics portfolio into:

  • Residential robotics
  • Commercial service robots
  • Logistics automation
  • Industrial robotics

According to LG, more than two decades of real-world operational experience have provided valuable data on how intelligent machines can safely navigate environments and interact with people.

Hardware Foundation for Physical AI

In addition to AI software and robotics intelligence, LG emphasizes the importance of hardware innovation.

The company highlights its expertise in:

  • Actuators
  • Electric motors
  • Precision motion control systems
  • Robotics movement technologies

These components enable robots to move efficiently, manipulate objects, and interact with physical environments more naturally.

Group-Wide Physical AI Ecosystem

LG says its Physical AI platform is supported by collaboration across multiple companies within the LG Group.

Key contributors include:

  • LG AI Research – EXAONE AI models
  • LG Innotek – Vision and sensing technologies
  • ROBOSTAR – Industrial robotics solutions
  • LG Energy Solution – Battery technologies
  • LG CNS – Software and systems integration
  • LG Electronics – Consumer appliances and connected ecosystem

The company states that this integrated approach allows perception, intelligence, and physical action to work together within a unified Physical AI framework.

Smart Factory Deployment

LG also pointed to its own Smart Factory operations as a real-world proving ground for Physical AI technologies.

The facilities currently utilize:

  • Robotics
  • Digital twin technologies
  • Autonomous logistics systems
  • AI-driven automation

According to LG, these deployments provide continuous operational data and practical validation that help accelerate the development of future consumer and industrial robotics solutions.

With the introduction of the CLOiD robot and its broader Zero Labor Home initiative, LG is positioning itself to play a larger role in the next phase of AI-driven automation, where intelligent systems can understand, interact with, and operate within physical environments beyond traditional screens and software.
