Add MobiGyaan as a preferred source on GoogleMeta has announced the global expansion of Meta Business Agent, an AI-powered business assistant designed to help companies manage customer interactions, sales, and support across WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram. The announcement was made during Conversations 2026 in London, where the company also introduced the new Meta Business Agent Platform, providing businesses with tools to build, customize, and deploy AI agents at scale.

According to Meta, the launch is aimed at simplifying customer engagement while helping businesses automate routine tasks across its messaging ecosystem. The company noted that more than one billion conversations take place every day between businesses and customers across WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, creating a significant opportunity for AI-powered assistance.

Meta revealed that over one million businesses are already using Business Agents on WhatsApp and Messenger to provide round-the-clock customer support. The company says these interactions help the AI understand customer needs better and deliver more relevant, personalized experiences from the very first conversation.

The Meta Business Agent is designed to handle a wide range of customer-facing activities. Businesses can deploy the AI assistant within minutes or integrate it directly into existing enterprise workflows and infrastructure.

The Business Agent can answer customer questions, recommend products from business catalogs, schedule appointments, qualify leads, close sales, and seamlessly hand conversations over to human representatives whenever additional support is required. Meta also says the AI can communicate in local languages while adapting to a brand’s preferred tone and communication style.

Beyond customer engagement, Meta is positioning the Business Agent as an operational assistant for business owners and teams. The AI can provide daily briefings summarizing conversations that occurred overnight and surface insights from ongoing customer interactions.

Looking ahead, Meta plans to significantly expand the platform’s capabilities. Future updates are expected to introduce market research tools, product performance insights, calendar integrations, and competitive intelligence features, allowing businesses to use the AI for both customer engagement and operational decision-making.

Alongside the assistant itself, Meta introduced the Meta Business Agent Platform, a new infrastructure layer designed to help organizations deploy AI agents at scale across multiple systems.

The platform supports integrations with hundreds of business tools and services, including Shopify, Zendesk, and Shopee, enabling Business Agents to take actions directly through connected platforms. Meta says these integrations will allow AI agents to go beyond answering questions and actively perform tasks on behalf of businesses.

The platform also includes enterprise-grade controls, governance tools, guardrails, and analytics designed to help organizations manage AI deployments while maintaining compliance and customer trust. For businesses already using the WhatsApp Business Platform, the new Business Agent Platform will work alongside existing infrastructure and will also support Messenger and Instagram deployments.

Meta is additionally introducing new discovery features within WhatsApp to help users find businesses more easily. Users will soon be able to search for businesses directly through the WhatsApp search bar, while businesses can also be shared via contact cards and phone numbers within chats.

According to Meta, these discovery enhancements are designed to make WhatsApp a more effective platform for connecting customers with businesses while reducing friction during the discovery process.

The rollout of Meta Business Agent will happen in phases. Meta confirmed that Business Agent support is now expanding globally to businesses of all sizes and is also being extended to Instagram. Initially, businesses will be able to activate the service free of charge, while subscription-based plans tailored to different business sizes are expected to launch in the coming months.

Some of the newer capabilities, including morning briefings and advanced business insights, are currently being rolled out to a limited group of businesses using WhatsApp Business, Instagram Pro, Messenger, and Meta Business Suite. Businesses interested in future AI-powered capabilities such as market research, product intelligence, calendar management, and competitive analysis can join Meta’s waitlist for early access.
