Micromax introduces Windows Phone 8.1 based Micromax Canvas Win smartphones

Just as predicted by earlier rumours, Micromax has officially launched its first Windows Phone handsets at a grand launch event in New Delhi featuring Nikhil Chinapa, Diana Penty and others.

Micromax has officially announced its partnership With Microsoft and Qualcomm to introduce its new Canvas Win series with the launch of its first Windows Phone handsets – the Micromax Canvas Win W092 and the Micromax Canvas Win W121, making it the first Indian handset maker to get into the Windows Phone race.

The Micromax Canvas Win W092 and the Canvas Win W121 are both powered by the quad core Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz along with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. The Canvas Win W092 has a 4 inch display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution whereas the Canvas Win W121 has a bigger 5 inch display with HD resolution.

The Micromax Canvas Win W092 and the Canvas Win W121 run on the latest Windows Phone 8.1 OS and come bundled with Microsoft’s cloud storage tool OneDrive with services like Bing, Skype, Xbox Games, and Office 365. The Canvas Win W092 has a 5 MP rear facing and front facing VGA cameras whereas the Canvas Win W121 has an 8 MP rear facing and 2 MP front facing cameras. The Micromax Canvas Win W092 is priced at Rs. 6500 and the Canvas Win W121 is priced at Rs. 9500. Both the handsets are expected to be available starting from July.

Speaking about the launch of the new Micromax Canvas Win series, Sanjay Kapoor, Chairman, Micromax, said, “With our vision to democratize technology and belief in providing consumers with choice of platforms, we are pleased to introduce a new range of Windows-based phones. I am pleased that Micromax is the only Indian mobile phone brand to be present across the two most popular operating platforms in the world.”

  • 1500 mAh battery
