Microsoft Band fitness and health tracking device with 10 smart sensors launched

With the focus on fitness related wearable increasing, Microsoft has launched the Microsoft Band, which is the company’s foray into the consumer fitness segment.

Microsoft has announced the launch of the Microsoft Band, which is the company’s first fitness band. The wristband is said to have 10 smart sensors including a UV sensor for sun exposure and a galvanic skin response measurement. The band can also be used to monitor heart rate, track fitness, sleep quality etc. the band also gives notifications for incoming calls, emails, texts.

Microsoft has also launched a dedicated Microsoft Health platform which can be used to track fitness and health data from various devices. The Microsoft Band can be connected to the platform to select guided workouts, map the running, biking routes of the user using GPS. The band is currently available in the US priced at $199.
