Microsoft may ditch Windows Phone and use Android for its handsets

While we all regret Nokia not shaking hands with Google for the Android OS, Microsoft itself seems to have realized the issue.

Microsoft-to-drop-Windows-Phone-for-Android

According to sources, Microsoft may put its own Windows Phone platform on the side burner and for the first time pick up Android to power its upcoming smartphones. The company has apparently been in talks with Google to offer Google Play powered devices supported by Microsoft apps in return for which Google would offer Google Maps, YouTube and Search, all designed for Windows.

While the news is a surprise by itself, the timing of the news is even more shocking. The very time Microsoft is just getting ready to roll out the uniform Windows 10 platform, the company is reportedly considering the Android platform. While this would have been a good decision if taken right at the beginning, one cannot help but wonder if Microsoft is too late.
