Aymar de Lencquesaing, Chairman and President of Motorola Mobile business revealed that the Moto Z might get Project Tango support using a Mod. The 3D camera technology in Project Tango combines the camera, gyroscope, and accelerometer to estimate six degree of freedom motion tracking, providing you the ability to track 3D motion of a device while simultaneously creating a map of the environment.

Given the support of MotoMods for the Moto Z, it would be very easy to implement the Project Tango technology. The phone already has MotoMods which include Insta-Share Projector, JBL SoundBoost, Moto Shells, and instant Power Pack. The President has reiterated his company’s focus on augmented reality.
