While we had just reported that MTNL and BSNL are set to offer free roaming from January 26, MTNL has officially announced the plan.

MTNL has launched the Free Incoming while roaming in Delhi and Mumbai scheme at the hands of Hon’ble Minister of Communications & IT and Law & Justice, Shri Kapil Sibal. The scheme, which will be active from January 26 onwards, offers subscribers free incoming while roaming in Delhi and Mumbai.

With the new scheme, whenever MTNL Mumbai customer visits Delhi, no charges for incoming calls will be levied while roaming on MTNL Network and vice-versa. However, outgoing local calls would be charged at Re. 1 per min and STD calls at Rs. 1.50 per min. SMS charges would be Re.1 and data charges 2 paise per 10 KB.
