Finnish giant Nokia today announced Q4 2012 results and the company is finally back in profit after several quarters of losses. Nokia has recorded an operating profit of $585 million during the quarter which is up from the $754 million loss it reported in Q3 2012. Nokia’s net cash rises from $4.7 Billion to $5.8 Billion which is a great sign.
Nokia also announced that the company went on to ship 4.4 million Lumia smartphones and 2.2 million Symbian smartphones in the Q4. Apart from these, Nokia also shipped a sweet 9.3 million full-touch Asha devices, which takes the total tally to 15.9 million units.
Nokia has also made it official that the Nokia 808 PureView smartphone is the last Symbian based device from the company and has said,
During our transition to Windows Phone through 2012, we continued to ship devices based on Symbian. The Nokia 808 PureView, a device which showcases our imaging capabilities and which came to market in mid-2012, was the last Symbian device from Nokia.
In the the history of 143 years, this is the first time when Nokia will not be paying a dividend to shareholders for 2012, in order to ensure strategic flexibility and this will also result in improving the liquidity position of the company.
