Add MobiGyaan as a preferred source on GoogleOnePlus has announced its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16, in China. The new smartphone focuses on mobile gaming, high-performance hardware, advanced photography, and extended battery life. It features a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display with a gaming refresh rate of up to 185 Hz, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 SoC built on a 2nm process, and a 200 MP primary camera.
Other highlights include a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, a 9,000 mAh battery, 100W SuperVOOC wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and ColorOS 17. The OnePlus 16 is offered with up to 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage, while its gaming-focused hardware includes a dedicated triple-chip setup and the Glacier Cooling System.
6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED | 185 Hz Gaming Refresh Rate | 1.15 mm Bezels
The OnePlus 16 features a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,772 x 1,272 pixels. The panel supports intelligent refresh-rate switching between 1 Hz and 165 Hz for regular use, while a gaming refresh rate of up to 185 Hz is supported in compatible titles. OnePlus describes it as the fourth-generation Oriental Screen, featuring custom X4 luminescent material and a redesigned LTPO circuit.
The display offers up to 1,000 nits of typical brightness and up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness. It also supports hardware-level brightness reduction to 1 nit for use in darker environments, alongside a sunlight mode and triple-calibrated color tuning. The phone features symmetrical bezels measuring just 1.15 mm on all four sides.
The OnePlus 16 comes in three finishes: Starlight, Dark Forest, and Martian Masterpiece. The Starlight variant uses a silk glass process and includes an integrated breathing light indicator.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 | Triple Gaming Chips | Glacier Cooling System
The OnePlus 16 is powered by the 2nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform, paired with the Adreno 850 GPU. According to OnePlus’ stated performance metrics, the SoC delivers a 13% increase in CPU performance, a 44% improvement in GPU processing power, and a 10% improvement in overall energy efficiency. The company also claims double the sustained performance compared with its prior benchmarks.
To complement the primary SoC, OnePlus has introduced its proprietary triple-chip gaming architecture. It comprises the G3 network chip for latency reduction, the P4 super display chip for motion clarity, and the T3 touch chip. The Wind Chaser Game Kernel supports multi-frame generation to improve the gaming experience in compatible titles.
Thermal management is handled by the Glacier Cooling System, which uses a zoned acceleration layout designed to increase thermal gel efficiency by 50%. The phone also includes a high-precision gyroscope calibrated for fine aiming and recoil control in shooter games.
185 FPS Gaming Support | PUBG Mobile, Delta Force & More
The OnePlus 16’s high-refresh-rate display supports selected games at frame rates of up to 185 fps. According to the announcement, compatible titles include PUBG Mobile, Delta Force, Valorant: Energy Operation, Dark Zone, CrossFire: Mobile, Naruto, and Firefly Assault.
The smartphone also supports gameplay at 165 fps or higher with ultra-high graphics in Honor of Kings. OnePlus says support is planned to expand to additional titles, including Minecraft and Clash of Clans. Actual frame rates depend on game compatibility, graphics settings, and software support.

The OnePlus 16 features a triple rear camera system powered by the LUMO light and shadow engine. The primary camera uses a 200 MP sensor with a 1/1.4-inch optical format, an f/1.6 aperture, and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
The camera system also includes a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.95-inch sensor, 3x optical zoom, an f/2.6 aperture, and OIS. A 50 MP ultra-wide camera with a 116-degree field of view and an f/2.0 aperture completes the rear setup.
For video recording, the phone supports 4K video at up to 120 fps with Dolby Vision, along with video recording at resolutions up to 8K. On the front, it features a 50 MP autofocus camera with an f/2.0 aperture and support for 4K video recording at up to 60 fps.
9,000 mAh Glacier Battery | 100W SuperVOOC | 50W Wireless Charging
The OnePlus 16 packs a 9,000 mAh Glacier Battery, which OnePlus describes as the largest battery capacity used in one of its smartphones to date. The large battery is designed to support extended gaming sessions and everyday use without frequent charging.
Charging options include 100W SuperVOOC wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The phone also supports 27W reverse wired charging, allowing it to power compatible accessories or other devices. Additional power-management features include full-scenario bypass charging and OPPO’s Energy Concentration Chip, which are designed to help maintain performance at lower battery levels.

The OnePlus 16 runs ColorOS 17 out of the box. The software introduces an updated user interface, cross-connectivity with the Apple ecosystem, and AI features for tasks such as organizing classroom notes, translating formulas, and assisting with academic problem-solving.
Other hardware features include an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, symmetrical dual stereo speakers, an X-axis linear vibration motor, an infrared sensor, tri-band GPS, and support for the n79 cellular frequency band. The device also supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and USB Type-C with USB 3.2 Gen 1.
For protection against dust and water, the OnePlus 16 carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings.
