Add MobiGyaan as a preferred source on GoogleOnePlus has finally confirmed that its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16, will launch on 12th October The announcement was made at the OnePlus Game Conference, where the company detailed several gaming-focused technologies developed for the upcoming phone. The OnePlus 16 is being positioned heavily around gaming performance, with support for up to 185 FPS gaming, a new Windspeed Game Kernel integrated at the chip level, and a self-developed triple gaming chip system covering network connectivity, display processing and touch response.
OnePlus 16 Gets New Windspeed Game Kernel
The OnePlus 16 will be among the first smartphones to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, with OnePlus integrating its newly reworked Windspeed Game Kernel directly into the underlying chip architecture. The company says the approach is designed to improve frame-rate stability and optimize hardware resources during gaming.
OnePlus has highlighted two major capabilities of the new gaming framework. The first is native 185 FPS support, allowing compatible games to run at up to 185 frames per second without relying on frame interpolation. The second is a super-frame technology designed for games that do not natively support ultra-high frame rates, allowing supported titles to reach much higher frame rates through frame generation.
OnePlus has also introduced its Windspeed Stable Frame technology to help maintain consistent frame rates during fast movements and demanding gaming sessions.
Self-Developed Triple Gaming Chips
The OnePlus 16 also introduces three dedicated chips designed to handle different parts of the gaming experience. Instead of relying entirely on the main SoC, the phone uses separate hardware for network connectivity, display processing and touch input.
The G3 Network Chip is designed to reduce gaming latency and improve connection stability across cellular and Wi-Fi networks. OnePlus claims that it can reduce average cellular gaming latency by 13.39%, while Wi-Fi transmission stability is said to improve by 18.5%, with an 11.5% improvement in Wi-Fi throughput and packet acquisition.
The P4 Super Display Chip focuses on high-refresh-rate gaming and display processing. According to OnePlus, the chip uses a revised manufacturing process, with a 20% increase in transistor count and 25% higher data throughput capacity compared with its predecessor.
The third chip is the T3 Lingxi Touch Chip, which handles touch input and sampling. It has been optimized for competitive shooter games and provides customizable input profiles. Other reports on the launch event state that the chip supports up to 520 Hz multi-touch sampling.
Several Games Get 185 FPS Support
OnePlus has also announced game-specific optimization for several titles. The supported games include Peacekeeper Elite, Arena Breakout, CrossFire, Nizhan: Future, and Naruto Mobile, with native 185 FPS support announced for these titles.
Other games are also being optimized for higher frame rates. For example, Call of Duty Mobile supports up to 165 FPS, while Genshin Impact can reach 180+ FPS using the phone’s super-frame technology, according to reported testing and OnePlus’ announced gaming support. OnePlus has also confirmed that the OnePlus 16 will serve as the official tournament device for the upcoming season of the Peacekeeper Elite Professional League (PEL).
OnePlus 16 Launch Date
The OnePlus 16 will officially launch on 12th October 2026. Reports indicate that the launch will take place in China, with the phone expected to go on sale shortly afterward. OnePlus has yet to reveal the complete retail configurations and pricing.
