Design, Display & Build Quality

On the design front, the POCO X8 uses a distinctive design with a focus on durability, combining a large battery with a slim 8.6 mm profile weighing 223 grams. You have three color options to choose from: Fiery Orange, Black, and Frost White, with the back using a transparent sheet for sleekness. Despite its substantial 9,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, the phone maintains a relatively restrained thickness.

It stands out with a unique, multi-segmented back panel that combines distinct visual textures beneath the surface, including tactile denim-like patterns, fine vertical lines, and accent faux structural screws. The rear features a prominent camera island on the upper left and large iconic POCO branding near the bottom. Its Pro variant uses a matte glass finish, which also adds customizable RGB ring lights around the camera lenses.

The POCO X8’s durability-focused design approach emphasizes protection against drops, water, and everyday wear. The smartphone features a reinforced build and multiple dust and water resistance ratings, making durability one of its key highlights. The package includes Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the front and four ingress protection ratings: IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K. POCO has also highlighted Five-Star Quality Certifications from SGS and TÜV.

On the front, you get a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution (2,772 x 1,280 pixels). The panel supports a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, which makes scrolling through menus and compatible content feel smoother. It also offers 12-bit color depth and DCI-P3 wide color gamut support for rich color reproduction, while the display also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for video playback.

The panel uses a 240 Hz touch sampling rate and up to 3,200 Hz instant touch sampling rate. With a claimed peak brightness of up to 3,200 nits, the panel is designed to remain visible in bright outdoor conditions. It also supports high-frequency PWM dimming at up to 3,840 Hz and comes with TÜV Triple Eye Protection certification. These additions complement the display’s high resolution and refresh rate, making it well equipped for everyday browsing, video streaming, and gaming.
