Add MobiGyaan as a preferred source on GoogleAmazon Prime Video India has announced the integration of Amazon MX Player into Prime Video in India, bringing together the company’s free and paid streaming services under a single platform. The rollout will happen gradually over the next few months and aims to unify Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD), Advertising Video on Demand (AVOD), Transactional Video on Demand (TVOD), and add-on subscriptions into one ecosystem.

The move follows Amazon’s acquisition of select MX Player assets in 2024. These assets were later merged with Amazon miniTV to form Amazon MX Player, a free ad-supported streaming platform focused on original entertainment and localized content. With the latest integration, Amazon is now consolidating its premium Prime Video catalog and free MX Player offerings into a unified viewing experience for Indian audiences.
Amazon says the new structure is designed to support different viewing preferences across both paid and free users.
Prime Members
Prime Video subscribers will continue to get access to:
- Premium global and Indian originals
- Exclusive movies and series
- Multi-device streaming support
- Ad-free or ad-supported viewing options, depending on content
Free-Tier Users
Users who prefer free streaming will gain access to:
- Expanded AVOD content library
- Free original shows
- Reality shows
- Microdramas
- International dubbed content
Amazon will also integrate upgrade pathways, encouraging users to move from the free tier to Prime subscriptions.
Rollout Across Devices
The integration experience will vary depending on the platform being used.
Android app
The standalone Amazon MX Player app on Android will continue operating but will receive a rebranded experience.
The app will:
- Continue functioning as a local media player
- Retain free AVOD streaming
- Add a dedicated Prime Video section
- Allow users to subscribe directly for premium content access
Amazon says the Android app remains important for pan-India distribution and subscriber growth.
iOS, smart TVs, and web
Users on:
- iOS
- Smart TVs
- Web browsers
will gradually be redirected fully into the main Prime Video application.
Once redirected, users will be able to access both free AVOD content and premium SVOD content from within Prime Video itself.
Combined content library
The integration combines the content strengths of both platforms.
Prime Video content includes:
- Global originals
- Indian originals
- Premium franchise titles
- Movies and exclusive series
Amazon MX Player contributes:
- Original series
- Reality content
- Microdramas
- Dubbed international content
- Free ad-supported entertainment
Amazon says the merger will also simplify advertising operations. By combining Prime Video and Amazon MX Player into a unified platform, advertisers will get a centralized ecosystem to reach audiences across both free and paid streaming tiers in India.
Gaurav Gandhi, Vice President, Asia-Pacific and ANZ, Prime Video, said, “Our focus at Prime Video has always been to bring authentic stories that reflect the diversity of our audiences. With the integration of Amazon MX Player’s expansive original slate and audience scale, our collective offering is bigger and stronger than ever – making Prime Video the one-stop destination for quality entertainment, for every customer in the country.
Amazon MX Player has built remarkable engagement through a diverse library, and bringing it together with Prime Video’s iconic stories means we can keep serving our customers with the largest selection of exclusive and original content from India and around the world.”
