Xiaomi India has launched the REDMI Note 17 5G with a strong focus on battery life, immersive multimedia, and long-term software support, positioned as a smartphone built around a “large screen and large battery” philosophy. The REDMI Note 17 5G combines a 6.99-inch AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 SoC, a massive 8,000 mAh Silicon-Carbon battery, Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, and 4 generations of Android OS upgrades.
One of the biggest highlights of the REDMI Note 17 5G is its massive 8,000 mAh Silicon-Carbon Battery, one of the largest batteries available in its segment. Xiaomi says the battery is capable of delivering up to three days of usage on a single charge under moderate usage scenarios.
The battery is paired with the self-developed Xiaomi Surge G1 Battery Management Chip, which helps optimize charging efficiency, battery health, and long-term endurance. Charging duties are handled by 45W wired fast charging, with the charger included in the retail package, alongside support for 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing the smartphone to function as a power bank for compatible accessories and other devices.
On the front, the REDMI Note 17 5G features Xiaomi’s first-ever 6.99-inch ultra-large AMOLED display. The panel offers a Full HD+ resolution (2,396 x 1,080 pixels) with a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate for fluid scrolling, gaming, and animations. It also supports a 240 Hz touch sampling rate, DCI-P3 wide color gamut, a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and up to 1,800 nits peak brightness for improved outdoor visibility. Biometric authentication is handled through an in-display fingerprint scanner integrated beneath the display.
The REDMI Note 17 5G adopts a clean and premium design language featuring a metallic-finish middle frame and a matte-finished rear panel. Despite housing its massive 8,000 mAh battery, the smartphone maintains a relatively slim 8.45 mm profile while weighing 225 grams. The front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, while the overall device carries an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance, offering additional durability for everyday usage. It is available in Starlight Purple, Dark Night, and Arctic Blue color options.
Powering the REDMI Note 17 5G is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 octa-core SoC, manufactured using an efficient 4nm process technology. The octa-core processor combines two ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at up to 2.3 GHz with six ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores clocked at up to 2.0 GHz, paired with the Adreno 613 GPU. To maintain stable performance during extended workloads, Xiaomi has incorporated a large 10,416 mm² graphite cooling system for improved heat dissipation.
Xiaomi claims the platform delivers AnTuTu benchmark scores exceeding 630,000 points, providing dependable everyday performance for multitasking, entertainment, productivity, and casual gaming. The smartphone is available in 6 GB or 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB UFS 2.2 Storage, with support for expandable storage via a dedicated microSD card slot.
For photography, the REDMI Note 17 5G features a 50 MP AI primary rear camera with intelligent scene recognition designed to automatically optimize exposure, colors, and shooting parameters across different environments. The camera supports AI Photography modes for portraits, low-light photography, and improved dynamic range. On the front, the smartphone features an 8 MP selfie camera for selfies and video calls. Video recording is supported at up to 1080p resolution on both front and rear cameras.
The REDMI Note 17 5G runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 out of the box. Xiaomi has committed to 4 generations of Android OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates, providing long-term software support.
