Reliance begins migration process to move CDMA customers to 4G
As part of its efforts to migrate its CDMA customers over to the 4G LTE network to free up spectrum, the operator launched the first phase of the rollout process.
Reliance Communication has announced the migration of its CDMA subscribers over to its 4G LTE network. The upgrade, which will be carried out in phases, will move the operators over 50 lakh CDMA subscribers to the 4G network ahead of the commercial launch.
The phase 1 of the migration process would cover 9 circles which include metro circles of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata along with ‘A’ category circles of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh and ‘B’ category circles of UP East, UP West and Madhya Pradesh.
To upgrade to the 4G network, Reliance CDMA customers need to visit the nearest Reliance Store and get a new 4G SIM. Prepaid subscribers would have to do an upgrade recharge of value depending on the circle. Customers then need to SMS “4G <space> <19-digit SIM number of the new 4G SIM>” to 1299.
