WhatsApp records over 50 million video calling minutes per day in India

Late last year, WhatsApp had finally launched the video calling feature for the WhatsApp Messenger app. Even though the feature reached a little late to India, it is now one of the most used feature in India.

WhatsApp revealed that India is top country in the world in terms of usage of the WhatsApp Video calling feature. The company recorded a total of over 50 million video calling minutes per day. The messaging app has reportedly been handling over 340 million video calling minutes per day.

Given that of the 1.2 billion monthly active users globally, 200 million monthly active users are from India, it is no surprise that WhatsApp saw over 50 million video calling minutes per day in India. Moreover, WhatsApp has apparently optimised the video calling feature for low internet connectivity, which essentially boosted its growth the in the country.
