Add MobiGyaan as a preferred source on GoogleMeta has officially announced “Incognito Chat with Meta AI,” a new privacy-focused AI chat mode designed to offer fully private conversations with its AI assistant on WhatsApp and the standalone Meta AI app. The feature is built around Meta’s new “Private Processing” technology, which the company says enables AI interactions to remain inaccessible even to Meta itself.

Private Processing Technology
According to Meta, Incognito Chat processes all AI inference operations inside a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), creating an isolated and encrypted environment for handling user conversations securely. Meta says the system is designed to provide privacy protections comparable to end-to-end encrypted messaging.
Key privacy-focused features include:
- Zero server-side conversation logs
- Messages disappear after exiting the session
- Conversations are not permanently stored
- AI processing occurs inside a secure Trusted Execution Environment
- Data remains inaccessible to Meta and external observers
The company states that this is the first large-scale AI product where conversation logs are intentionally not retained on company servers.
Disappearing AI Conversations
Incognito Chat is designed to function similarly to disappearing private chats.
By default:
- Conversations are temporary
- Messages disappear once the user exits the session
- No chat history is stored in regular conversation lists
- Sessions are isolated from standard Meta AI interactions
Meta says the goal is to allow users to discuss sensitive or private topics with AI assistance without long-term data retention.
Meta also used the announcement to contrast its approach with other “incognito” AI systems currently available in the market. According to the company, many AI services labeled as private or temporary still retain user prompts and AI responses on backend servers for extended periods.
Meta claims Incognito Chat avoids this entirely through:
- No persistent logging
- Temporary device-level sessions
- Encrypted inference infrastructure
Side Chat with Meta AI Coming Soon
In addition to standalone Incognito Chat, Meta also revealed plans to expand its Private Processing technology into a new feature called “Side Chat with Meta AI.” This upcoming functionality is designed to provide contextual AI assistance within ongoing chats while keeping the primary conversation private and uninterrupted.
Meta says Side Chat will:
- Provide contextual AI help inside chats
- Maintain privacy protections
- Avoid exposing the main conversation externally

Availability
Meta confirmed that Incognito Chat with Meta AI will begin rolling out gradually over the coming months across WhatsApp and the standalone Meta AI app. The company says additional Private Processing-powered AI features are also planned for future releases.
