Xiaomi Redmi 1S: Hands on [Images]

Xiaomi has finally unveiled its range of smartphones in India and we were deligted to be at the event and witness them first hand. The cheapest from that range, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S was also there at the event and we had some time to play with it. The Xiaomi Redmi 1S offers a lot for its price tag and outdoes every phone in the range, even the very popular Moto E.

Xiaomi Redmi 1s Specs:

  • 4.7-inch IPS display
  • HD (1280x720p) resolution
  • 1.6 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor
  • Adreno 305 GPU
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 8 GB internal storage
  • microSD expansion up to 64 GB
  • 8 MP rear camera with flash
  • 1.6 MP front-facing camera
  • Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with MIUI
  • 2000 mAh battery
  • Dual SIM, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and GPS

Check out our hands-on images and little snippets of our opinions on the handset from the short time we had with it.

The Redmi 1s might be a little cheap but it doesn’t feel like it. The specs are literally too cool for the price, a 4.7-inch display size along with a Snapdragon 400 and Adreno 305 is pretty amazing. The handset comes with amazing specs such as 1 GB RAM, 64 GB MicroSD support and an 8-megapixel rear cam are pretty amazing.

The MiUi ROM is pretty cool. As far as the Android update is concerned, we talked to Hugo Barra about it and he stated that Xiaomi is working on providing the updates on even its low-end phones.

We got the phone in pink color, which would appeal more to women or maybe men who want to break stereotypes.

The other delight on the phone is its 8-megapixel rear cam, which worked pretty fine as far as our limited use was concerned.

We were mostly delighted by what the phone offered.
