Chinese Compnay, ZTE Corporation has built and deployed an advanced VAS Platform for Vodafone Essar in India. With the completion of the platform, Vodafone customers can now avail the Vodafone Newswrap, a Mobile Newspaper service offering the latest news and happenings from around the world, right on their mobile phones. According to ZTE, the introduction of the service will play a key role in enhancing VAS revenues for Vodafone Essar, in today’s highly competitive market.

As a part of the project, ZTE India has created the MNS & MMSC platforms, under a revenue-sharing model for the first time. This heralds a new dimension for ZTE’s business in India as it expands its focus from being an equipment provider to also emerge as an end-to-end VAS solutions provider. The company is aggressively expanding its capabilities in the VAS segment as it focuses on winning a substantial share of the upcoming Value Added Service projects in the country.

According to Mr. Cui Liangjun, CEO, ZTE India, “We are extremely happy that our first long-term partnership on a revenue-sharing model in India is with Vodafone Essar and look forward to further strengthening this association. The success of the mobile newspaper project serves to highlight ZTE’s focus on addressing the end-to-end requirements of Indian telecom operators and emerge as their preferred partner. We will continue to expand our VAS offerings and will aggressively focus on attaining leadership in the segment by offering innovative VAS solutions.”
